Cape Cod Series

The Cape series of our storage sheds is by far one of the most popular styles.  It's classic appearance is not that of an ordinary storage shed.  The structure is enhanced with a steeper roof pitch as well as with 8" overhangs which offer extra protection from those harsh New England winters.

All Capes come standard with a double door, single entry door, and two windows.  This allows for easy access with larger items such as a lawn tractor through the double doors, and quick access through the single door for smaller items such as gardening tools.

Like all of our structures, you are able to choose the door and window location based on your storage needs or based on the location the building will be sitting in your yard.  76" studs are standard on all cape models.  The 10' wide series features an 8/12 roof pitch, the 12' wide series features a 7/12 roof pitch, and the 14' wide series features a 6/12 roof pitch.

The shed is available with LP Smart Siding, vinyl siding, cedar siding, log siding, and board or batten siding.  We are able to match the type of siding on your house, from basic custom color match to applying the same vinyl siding that your home has.

You are also able to customize the structure however you deemed fit, from electrical packages to work benches and shelves, if you can dream it, we can build it.

Storage Shed Zoning Regulations

I know, it sounds intimidating, but it is easier than most people think.  In each township there are specific regulations in place that guide home owners as to the placement of their storage shed.  There are a few reasons that towns do so.

First off they want to be sure that you are not too close to your property line.  With this rule it ensures you can easily access all sides of the building.  Most towns are 5' to 10' off the line, but there are some that have rear set backs as high as 25', and side set backs as far as 30'!

Rest assured there are ways around this.  In every town you can apply for what is called a variance if you feel that the required set back is not feasible.  The town will require you to attend a meeting in which you have the opportunity to plead your hardship(key word being hardship).  In my experience there are very few instances in which people are denied one.

The other reason towns like a permit is to ensure that the building is constructed properly.  They may ask you for a copy of building plans and a certificate of insurance from the builder, both of which Pine Creek Structures has readily available for you.

The final most popular reason that a town requires permits is to ensure citizens are not constructing huge accessory structures in their back yards.  Many towns will regulate the size based on either your residential zoning district or a proportion of the size of your property.

The best part is most of this information is online.  You can access your towns' zoning requirements with a simple Google search.  You can also access most plot plans by Googling for example, Town of Plainville GIS.  This will bring you to the zoning aspect of your towns layout showing everything from wetlands, property lines, to water easements.

Per CT Building Code, accessory structures under 200 square feet do not require a building permit.  However there is a 99% chance that the town will require a Zoning Permit.  At Pine Creek Structures, we do not require a zoning permit as it is the consumers responsibility to ensure that they are in compliance with all local building codes.  We do encourage our customers to take the correct approach as it is always better to do things right the first time, then deal with potential fines at a later date.

Value Vs. Price

There are two things that we all want to know when we purchase something; what is it worth, and how much is it going to cost me.  With that we offer many different avenues for our customers to explore.  At the end of the day, you, our customer, will obtain value no matter which direction you choose.

 All of our buildings are available with LP Smart Siding and Vinyl Siding.  We also offer our standard construction and our Madison construction.  With our standard construction we utilize 2X4 wall studs spaced 16" on center, double top plates, double studded corners, and piano hinges on the doors.  On our Madison buildings the walls are framed with 2X3 studs spaced 24" on center.  I can ramble on about construction all day, but what you want to know, is the value associated with these differences.

 No matter which structure you do go with, all LP Sided buildings have a 50 year pro-rated warranty.  This siding is infused with a zinc borate, so it is not prone to absorb waters or oils, is termite proof, acts as a natural insect repellent, and resists fungal decay.  This is a paintable surface in which you can choose from 18 standard colors and 3 stain colors, or over 7,000 optional colors in the event you want to match your home.

 All vinyl buildings have lifetime warranty protecting you from major manufacturer defects such as cracking and excessive fading.  The wonderful thing about vinyl buildings is that they are maintenance free!  This also has a 50 year transferable warranty.

 All of our sheds have Timberline Architectural shingles which hold a lifetime warranty.

 So when you are shopping remember to not only compare price, but the value with the product you are buying.  I am not going to sit here and tell you we are the cheapest shed manufacturer, because frankly, we are not.  We do however offer the best warranties that the industry has to offer, and you can take that to the bank.

Earning Trust


Trust is one of the most important things in every aspect of our lives.  From our spouses to children, from bosses to employees, it plays a great role in how we make our day to day decisions.  What many people never ask themselves, is do my customers trust what I am saying?  Do my customers truly believe that I am presenting a product that is in their best interest?  How do we ensure that the message is conveyed?

When I stated out in my career it was with a person that is now a very close friend to me; Kevin Martin.  We were tasked with traveling throughout New England, NY, and NY promoting a chain of retail stores at concerts, sporting events, and other grass root campaigns.  The previous people who held this position were frequently terminated, as one of the Marketing Managers could never trust them.  As a result we made an agreement with one other, to always be upfront and honest in all business transactions.  This was the cornerstone on which by career has since been built.

When a customer comes to your place of business you have one chance to make a positive first impression.  You are either going to come off like the stereotypical used car salesman, or develop an early trust with them.  When you form a truthful bond with a client, they will buy from you.  If you fail to do so they will move on to the next company until they feel comfortable with the individual that they are dealing with.

It is no different within our personal lives.  We will gravitate to those we trust, those that will be there for us when we need them.  Now ask yourself, are you there when your customers need you?  Do you take the time to listen to their needs, and present them with a product that will fit their needs, and address their problems?  Or are you looking for the fast sale to hit your numbers and then moving on to the next customer.

One thing I can promise, people who trust you, will buy more than once.  They will refer friends and family, stop in to see how things are going in your life, and literally be a walking advertisement either for or against you.

I make it a point to deal honestly with my customers, coworkers, friends, and family.  If I can not sell a product without lying, then that is the day I will resign.  It is more important to be trusted and treat people fairly, how you would want to be treated, than it is to make money,  Earn their trust, and you will have a customer for life.

Keep Your Tax Return

It's that time of year again, tax time.  Most Americans look forward to a nice tax return, most accountants dread the countless hours that have to be put into meeting deadlines.

 At Pine Creek Structures, we want people to keep their return.  That is why we offer multiple avenues to obtain the storage shed you need, while keeping the money which you also need.

 The first option we offer, and by far the most popular, is our Rent To Own with no credit check.  You come in and decide on the building you need within $8,000.  Put a down a small payment and then pay monthly.  Basically, for every $1,000 your shed cost, your monthly payment will be around $50.  We require 2 months down on most buildings, 4 payments on all horse barns, dog kennels, chicken coops, and play sets.  

 Want to pay it off early?  No problem.  You simply contact Good Shepherd Rentals, give them your account number, and pay off the balance on the storage shed.  The best part is, automatic deductions from either a credit card or checking account on the 15th of every month, starting after you receive delivery, so there is no need to mail a check every month.

 Secondly, we have a lay away program.  You choose the shed and place a 10% deposit down.  The balance is due within 90 days, at which time we will schedule a delivery.  

 Lastly we offer financing through GE money which is approved after a credit check.  Throughout the year, GE offers different programs, such as 0% for 12 months, 6 months same as cash, ect.

 By offering different options, your money stays where it belongs, in your wallet.  You still are able to obtain the structure you want, clean out that garage or basement, and at the same time stay within budget.

Reputation - Knowing the Company You Choose To Do Business With

I wanted to make sure that our customers, even our competitor's customers, are informed about certain individuals that are currently in business.  When you are looking to purchase a storage shed, be sure you know the company that you are choosing to do business with.

In 2013 a certain business was in the news numerous times for taking money from customers, then never providing a storage shed.  They would make excuses such as our truck was in an accident, the building was damaged, or never even answer the phone.  This individual was quick to take the money, then never provided a shed.  He has ripped off many companies in PA, promising money for inventory, then never following through.

He will come to your house and say he is from a reputable shed company, maybe even have an invoice with their logo on it, using deception in an attempt to establish trust.  A few things for you, the customer.

If a company is unwilling to allow you to come to their place of business, and view their inventory, Buyer Beware.  This probably means that they do not have a sales location or inventory to show.  If they are insistent on coming to your house to show their products, Buyer Beware.  If the price seems too good to be true, or if they constantly bash the competition, Buyer Beware.

We want people, whether they purchase from us or a different reputable company in CT, to be treated fairly.  Our competitors would more than likely agree, that we are all here to service you, not to take advantage of you with false promises.  Make sure you do your homework on the company and people you choose to do business with.  Check with the Department of Consumer Protection, the Better Business Bureau, as well as friends and family.

Holiday Decorations

It's that time of year when we have to start preparing for the holidays. You head upstairs, pull down the hideaway ladder to the attic, walk up the stairs, and gaze upon the mesmerizing amount of stuff that is beyond disarray.
